About Me
Welcome to Nourishing Parenting.
We strive to live a life full of abundance by embracing the positives in all aspects of life with gratitude and love to feed the body, mind, and soul. Our mission is to share this mindset with the world, and with you.
Hello! I am Amy.
I am a large family mom and inspiring digital nomad.
My blogging journey started when our family moved 3500km (almost 2200 miles) across the country. I started a blog to keep our family back home up to date on what was happening in our lives. Our blog was a hodgepodge of pictures and snippets of text that only served as a vessel to share our adventures and exploration of our new mountain home.
That blog evolved into a YouTube channel; where our reach began to extend beyond family and friends. As a naturally creative person, I fell in love with blogging and editing videos. I slowly taught myself how to edit videos and started to create content that I am very proud of. Soon our reach extended beyond our family. Because of this change of audience, our content evolved and grew to include a larger diversity of topics.
As our YouTube channel grew, I decided that I wanted to rebrand and try and reach an even larger audience. I wanted to turn this passion into a career that could help us reach our dreams of being digital nomads. We shifted from wanting to just share our lives to fulling a desire to inspire others to live their lives with positivity and health.
Nourishing Parenting was born.
Meet my boys.
These tiny humans are my reason for being and the loves of my life.
I inspire to be the best possible teacher and mother to them. Our entire lifestyle is modelled around creating respectful, healthy adults who can move mountains (if they want to).
We are advocates for unschooling or, as we prefer to call it, life learning.
The boys do not go to school, nor do they learn through any formal curriculum or learning plan. We embrace every moment in life as an opportunity to learn and expand our knowledge.
Learning can happen anywhere.
Whether we are [learning fractions by] baking together as a family or exploring the world around us – from the tallest mountain to the tiniest ant, we value each moment. As a result, we are always discovering new ideas and investigating new concepts as we learn and grow as human beings.
Speaking of baking…
I love to share recipes.
As a busy mom, I love sharing tips to help make mealtime easier. Whether it is sharing a family favourite recipe or tips and tricks to save time in the kitchen, I love making mealtime easier.
Food is fuel for our bodies and we want to fuel our bodies as best we can. I often talk about how respect and respecting our own bodies is so important. So many convenience foods, whether take away fast food or store-bought, are packed full of ingredients (and packaging) that I don’t want for my family. We do indulge on occasion but encourage body positivity by making healthy choices for our bodies to make them look and, most importantly, function their best.
Making our own freezer meals allows us to maintain a mostly whole foods diet without hours of preparation and cooking each day. Creating and sharing healthy freezer meals is something that started as a lifeline for me and transformed into a passion.
We don’t only eat freezer meals though.
I love to cook and bake for my family. Because enthusiasm is contagious, my boys have recently started joining me in the kitchen for most meals, This is fantastic. I am grateful for the bonding experience which we have created around food.
But the household tips do not stop in the kitchen.
I also love sharing helpful tips for managing a home. From time-saving tips and tricks to motivational cleaning and decluttering videos, I love being able to help other Moms (and Dads or individuals) find a balance between work and play – sometimes combining the two for optimal effort.
We recently discovered minimalism and zero waste, which has given us a renewed motivation to live life to the fullest and truly embrace every moment.
By owning less and being conscious consumers, we are able to live fuller lives with less stuff to clutter our minds and time. I spend less time cleaning and organizing, and more time playing.
This gives us more time to explore the world around us. While exploring the world we can explore ourselves and our intentions during the process. We can learn who we are. My family is learning to respect the world around us, respect ourselves, and respect each other.
We use this time to bond as a family.
I am grateful for this bonding time.
Being grateful seems to be a common theme on this blog, doesn’t it? That is intentional.
I love to promote positivity, and being grateful for what you have is an excellent place to start. You are creating the story of your life with your thoughts and your actions.
Positivity and respect are two of my favourite topics. Because of this, you will often find me trying to find the positive to all experiences in life. You could dwell on the negative, but you can also thrive on the positives and the opportunities that all events create.
Instead of thinking about the things we do not have, we focus on what we do have.
This is one concept we have learned through minimalism. The things we have are were chosen because they fit our needs and desires. The things we have let go of were thanked for their service and donated to those who would enjoy it. Everything we have is here for a reason, so let’s embrace that and cherish it.
We strive to live a life full of abundance.
Not just financial abundance, but an abundance of joy, positivity and opportunity. By embracing the positives in all aspects of life we live with this abundance. With gratitude and love, we feed the body, mind, and soul.
I hope that you will join our digital family. If you embrace positivity or just need some positive influences in your life, we would love to have you.
