I am always looking for new and delicious ideas for what to feed my family in the morning. These 5 easy breakfast ideas are ones that we have recently tried and I wanted to share with you!

Breakfast, for me, is either the easiest meal or the hardest meal.

If I wake up feeling inspired, I love to make creative breakfast ideas. But there are morning where there is not enough caffeine and I just need an easy breakfast that I don’t need to fuss over.

What Are Easy Breakfast Ideas?

What is easy for one person may not be easy for others.

Some people may just make toast or cereal for breakfast, but those are not foods we have in out home most of the time. I love to cook from scratch, even when I want easy meals.

What I look for in an easy breakfast is one that creates minimal dishes, minimal ingredients, and does not take a lot of brain power to follow the recipe. If it is something I can make the night before, that’s even better!

Savoury Dill and Feta Scones

I was browsing Pinterest one morning, as one does when they are hungry but has no clue what to make, and I came across this recipe by Lord Byron’s Kitchen.

We do not typically buy feta cheese.

It is a cheese that we enjoy but only typically buy when we are planning on making specific recipes that call for – which is maybe once every couple of months. Conveniently, the last time I did groceries, I had a craving for Greek salad and purchased feta!

Since I had leftover in my fridge, I knew this recipe was meant to be. I made them right away!

This recipe was really easy to make and was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! This recipe made enough for 2 meals, served with some scrambled eggs, for my large family. They were just as delicious the second morning as they were when they were made fresh.

Banana Bread

Is banana bread a breakfast or a dessert? My kids love it either way! When we add a special treat (*chocolate chips*), it is definitely more of a dessert!

My children go through phases where they either eat every banana in sight or bananas just sit on the counter for days. When the second happens, I love to make those bananas into banana bread.

Banana bread is a lovely sweet loaf that my kids love.

Banana bread also freezes really well so make this one of many easy breakfast ideas! Make a double or triple batch of banana bread, slice it, and freeze it for a morning when you just don’t want to cook some extravagant meal or offer cereal.

Overnight Oats

Overnight oats is a great easy breakfast for when you know you wont have time to make something healthy and delicious in the morning. As the name suggests, you make it the night before!

There are so many different ways to make overnight oats. The flavour possibilities are endless!

There are many different blogs with many different flavour combinations but I love to be inspired by what I have in the fridge or pantry that needs to be used.

Another great benefit of overnight oats is that I can make each jar a different flavour. If one child wants berries but another wants maple and another one wants plain, it is easy to make multiple flavours!

Breakfast Burritos

My children love breakfast burritos. My 3rd child will tell you it is in his top 3 favourite foods.

There are many different ways to make breakfast burritos. Our favourite ingredients include shredded potato hashbrowns (which we always have in stock in our prepper pantry), eggs, and some kind of meat – usually bacon or sausage, wrapped up in a tortilla.

This is another easy breakfast idea that can be made ahead of time and frozen! Who doesn’t love a freezer friendly breakfast recipe?

Baked Mini Omelets

Did you know that you can bake eggs in muffin tins to create delicious and portable, protein packed, mini omelets? When I discovered how easy this technique was, I had to try it out!

I have seen these called by many different names – egg mufins, mini omelets, crustless quiches…

Whatever you call them, they are delicious.

Our favourite flavours are bacon, broccoli and a bit of sharp cheddar cheese. Yum!

This blog has all sorts of flavour combinations and a great recipe for you to try!
