My Bullet Journal Notebook

One of my goals for 2019 is to be more productive and organized.

I purchased a budget-friendly bullet journal off of Amazon as a Christmas present to myself.  So many journals are so expensive and, since this was my first one, I wanted to find a cheap bullet journal to experiment with before committing to one of the more expensive brands like a Leuchtturm or a Scribbles That Matter.

I have been doing pretty well with being consistent with using my bullet journal set up from January.  There are some days that I have completely slacked, but most of the time I am filling out my habits daily.

Check out that bullet journal set up here.

This month, I am going for a more minimalist inspire look for my monthly spread.  I found the way I set up the habit tracker last month to be visually overwhelming.  There were too many habits being tracked and it just took up too much space for my liking.

Another thing I am changing up this month is implementing weekly spreads.  Last month I used a separate calendar style planner to plan my online content, but this month I want to combine them into one place to be more organized and productive.

That one of the most appealing aspects of bullet journals to me.  I have the flexibility to change up my spreads every time I set up a new month!

February Calendar and Bullet Journal To Do List

Last month I made a monthly cover page with a large calendar.

I wrote one thing in it. Just one.

This month, I decided that I did not need a large calendar.  We have a large wall calendar which all of our members of our family can reference to see what is going on for the weeks ahead.  I did not want to duplicate this in my bullet journal.

For my February bullet journal set up, I decided on a smaller calendar with a to-do list on the opposing page.

I like this set up because it still gives me the option to fill in the calendar with dates if I need to, but is not overwhelming and obviously empty if I choose not to fill it in.  Having a calendar allows me to refer to the coming weeks and what date falls on which day of the week, but otherwise it is just something pretty to start the month.

I love having a big to-do list right next to my calendar.  This way, I am able to track what I want or need to get done over the next month and, because of the dutch door, I can relate it to the videos that I want to plan for as well.

Want to see that dutch door in action?  Check out my latest video!

Behind the dutch door are my brain dump spread and video tracker.

I like having the brain dump spread close to my video list and to-do list.  Because I can move things from the brainstorming section to the appropriate places easily, I can organize and plan efficiently.

Minimalist Weekly Spreads

Last month, I found my tracker spreads to be too busy.  Once I filled in the squares, it just looked a little chaotic.  I might have been able to fix this by being consistent with the pen I used but I just wanted something smaller this month.

Another issue with last month is that I did not give myself a weekly calendar to write things down.  I did this intentionally because I have a weekly calendar planner.  My planner is ok but I love my bullet journal.  I wanted to incorporate the two together this month because it would just make it easier to plan and be organized.

The whole purpose of my bullet journal set up is to keep me organized.  I want to improve each month until I find the spreads that work well for me.

I picked, what I feel is, a very appropriate quote for my first weekly spread.

Fail to plan, plan to fail.

I have goals for success.  Failure is not in the plan.  To plan for success, I want to be organized so I can have a visual reminder of what needs to be done and what I need to do to achieve my goals.

Monthly Review – How Can I Improve?

At the end of every month, I like to have a monthly review.

This section gives me a space to analyze and interpret the data that I have collected over the month.  I can see how I am progressing with my goals and areas that need improvement.

This month, I also included a section for what I published in the month.  One of my goals for February is to be more consistent with my content creation.  Having a list allows me to see what I have accomplished in one place.
