I am always looking for resources and tools to add to the learning environment in our home. While curricula are not our preferred methods of learning, I love having different resources in our home (both physical and digital). Recently I had the pleasure of exploring a great website called SchoolhouseTeachers.com (http://www.SchoolhouseTeachers.com/).
This SchoolhouseTeachers.com review is for the Ultimate Annual Yearly Membership. SchoolhouseTeachers.com is a division of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine and a wonderful resource for online learning. There are over 400 classes currently available with more being added all the time. It is an easy to navigate website with classes from preschool all the way through high school. The online courses for homeschoolers are all in a downloadable or online format.
Websites like SchoolhouseTeachers.com are great for unschooling or free learning.
The website is comprised of easy to navigate categories. For the way we use the site, we typically browse by subject. Each subject is then broken down into different courses available. Each course is broken down by week, but by no means do you have to follow this progression.
When my boys discover a topic of interest, I love being able to direct them to websites like this.
One topic that my eldest has been enthralled with recently is space. Conveniently, SchoolhouseTeachers.com has a whole lesson plan on astronomy. We discovered the astronomy course while perusing the list of classes available for the science courses.
The Everyday Astronomy class is broken down into different lessons. There are different lessons for each planet, including Pluto. Each lesson is divided by day. Mars, for example, is broken down into 20 days covering all sorts of topics. These topics include the moons of Mars, different scientists like William Herschel, and even a baking day to make Mars Muffins. All of the different days are in PDF form which makes it easy to use from a computer or mobile device.
But the courses is not all that SchoolhouseTeachers.com has to offer!
Printable Info Cards
If you know anything about me, you know how much I love printables and organization.
As a member to SchoolhouseTeachers.com, there are so many great printables! There are study plans, different learning aids like the periodic table and multiplication table, material tracking sheets, and more! There is even a very in-depth schoolhouse planner.
One subject that my seven years old has been very interested in recently is geometric shapes. He has been enjoying measuring and figuring out the area and perimeter of shapes. The print out has been a great resource to add to this because, honestly, I am not the best at remembering the names of all the different shapes.
Video and Media Library
Another aspect of our SchoolhouseTeachers.com membership that we have been taking advantage of is the video and media library.
There is an extensive collection of videos available on SchoolhouseTeachers.com and they are not just for students. I really appreciate the effort they have put into providing valuable content for parents as well.
The first video I watched was “You Matter More Than You Think”. This really resonated with me, especially after publishing my article about Finding Yourself as a Mom. I will definitely be taking advantage of these videos through the coming year because I think it is a valuable resource.
World Book Access
I am such a book nerd, it’s true.
Growing up, I used to sit in my grandfather’s office and look through his collection of World Book encyclopedias. I also loved the library day at school when we were encouraged to find a topic to research because we could use the World Book collection.
When I learned that my membership to SchoolhouseTeachers.com included access to World Book, I was so excited. I have only spent a little bit of time perusing this part of my membership but I really want to dive deeper into the World Book section.
By “a little bit of time”, I mean I have already spent a few hours looking at it.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com Review
I have been using this website for a few weeks now. I am impressed by how easy the site is to navigate. Because of the organization of this site and the content it provides makes it easy to find what I am looking for.
The website is easy to use and holds a wealth of information, no matter your style of homeschooling. If you are looking for a more structured program, you can go day by day with the different lesson plans. Or if like me, you prefer to teach to your child’s interest, you can do that by tailoring the resources available to what your children are wanting to learn about at the moment.
It is a great resource to have on my back burner and be able to pull up whenever the need arises. I cannot wait to see what else we discover on SchoolhouseTeachers.com as the year progresses.

I find the idea unschooling brave. It’s interesting that the same resources work for so many different styles.

That’s actually one of the reasons I started my blog and youtube channel. I wanted to show that resources are simply tools that can work for many families.
